ISU presidential search committee to interview candidates Sept. 15-16 in Minneapolis

AMES, Iowa -- The search committee for Iowa State University's next president will hold a two-day meeting in Minneapolis Sept. 15-16 to interview candidates for the presidency. The meeting, most of which will be held in closed session, is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. (Times are approximate.)

The committee will meet in the Hilton Minneapolis (room ConradA), 1001 Marquette Ave., Minneapolis.

On both days, committee chairs will call the meeting to order, take roll and go into closed session to interview candidates. When Thursday interviews are complete, the committee will return to open session and adjourn for the day. When Friday interviews are complete, the committee will return to open session and adjourn the meeting.

Iowa's Open Meetings Law allows closed sessions to evaluate the competency of an individual whose appointment is under consideration, if the individual has requested confidentiality.* All applicants for the ISU presidency have requested that their names be kept confidential during the early part of the search.

The names of those who become finalists for the ISU post will be released before the finalists visit campus. Search committee co-chair and College of Business Dean Labh Hira said he anticipates those names will be released Monday, Sept. 19.

Although no finalists have yet been selected, open forums to allow the university community and public to meet the finalists are tentatively set for Sept. 22-23 and Sept. 26-28.
